前言 / PREFACE

建校64年来，广州美术学院名师荟萃，桃李竞芳，培养出了一批又一批优秀的毕业生，他们带着母校的期许与祝福，在艺术领域坚持不懈地创作和探索，为艺术事业的长足发展作出贡献。其中，有这么一批优秀的校友，带着他们的艺术实践与追求，踏出国门，走向世界。他们以扎实的基本功和锐意求新的作品在国际艺坛上继续发挥光芒，既将中国的艺术精粹带向世界，也在全球范围内吸收新的源泉，融汇贯通，不断发展。他们当中有很大部分旅居于北美地区，经过多年的奋斗，如今已经在北美独特的艺术沃土上创出了一番天地，成为北美艺术界的中坚力量。

为了真实呈现这批校友在艺术创作、设计领域所取得的努力成果，传承和发展学院文脉，弘扬学院精神，广州美术学院大学城美术馆组织、策划了“广美·北美——广州美术学院北美校友作品展”，汇聚了来自北美地区的五十四位校友两百多件艺术作品，呈现出校友们丰富而专业的学术风采。从五十年代建校伊始入校，到两千年后毕业，这次参展的校友们重新架构起广州美术学院的办学历史，他们见证着学院的教育轨迹和发展历程，承接了学院的传统和深厚的文化底蕴，深刻地反映出广美学术的厚重与艺术的力量。这次展览不仅是学院和北美校友之间的艺术与学术桥梁和情感交融的纽带，更是学院历史中浓墨重彩的一笔。

展览通过具体作品折射出旅居北美的艺术家们的既有成就和发展状态，凸显他们对学术的坚守、对艺术创作的感悟。我馆希望在校学生通过这次展览，通过对毕业前辈们的成长经验的了解与学习，获得启发，从而更好地调整个人发展计划，以适应世界艺术文化嬗变的现状与趋势。本展览也将作为我校校友系列展学术活动的首展，成为广州美术学院梳理加深与校友们的情感记忆的重要途径。

In the 64 years of history of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, we are fortunate to have prestigious professors and faculty to cultivate generations of outstanding students. They graduate with the best wishes and expectation of the school, and continue their creation and exploration in the art world persistently, making contribution to the development of art. Among them are the group of excellent alumni who take on a journey abroad and travel around the world with their artistic practice and pursuit. They shine on the global platform with their mastery of skills and innovative works. They not only promote the Chinese artistic essence overseas, but also gain inspiration globally, integrating them and developing them. Many of these alumni live in North America, who through years of hard work, have established themselves in the unique creative land of North America and have become a strong force in its art world.

In order to genuinely present the fruitful works of the alumni in both fine art and design, to document the historic context, and to preserve and pass down the spirit, University Museuam GAFA plans and organizes the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts North America Alumni Exhibition. It collects more than two hundred pieces of works from fifty-four alunmi, showcasing their varied professional achievement. From those who enrolled in the 50s to the younger ones who graduated after the 2000, our alumni participating in the exhibition reconstruct the history of GAFA. They have witnessed the development and the path of the school’s education endeavor, passed down the rich tradition and cultural wealth, reflected the academic strength and artistic power of GAFA. This exhibition is not only a academic and emotional bridge between the school and its North America alumni, but also an significant chapter in the history of GAFA.

The exhibition reflects the accomplishment and ongoing development of the alumni in North America, demonstrates their perseverance in academics and contemplation on art. I hope our students and faculty will have a better understanding and learning of the experience of our graduates, get inspired and adapt their own development plan to the fast-changing global art world. This exhibition is also the first project of our alumni program and paves an important path for collecting and reinforcing the memories of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with the alumni.
