INVITATION

THE COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL 2015 announces a poster competition. The winning proposal will be featured as a recurrent design on all marketing material during the festival. As this year’s poster designer you will enjoy a unique opportunity to influence the visual identity of the 2015 edition of the COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL and have your design exposed to thousands of people who will see your poster in the cityscape and at the festival.

 

COMPETITION BACKGROUND:

THE COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL (KULTURHAVN) is Copenhagen’s annual summer harbour festival that fills the city’s waterways with life and activity. The festival has over the past 14 years developed into the nation’s largest cultural harbour festival with over 100,000 visitors. The festival offers a new setting for cultural activities and unique experiences hosted by the city’s many cultural and sports associations. At the same time, the festival is a showcase for new creative cultural projects in and around the harbour.

 

THE COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL has its main venue by the harbour at Islands Brygge but the festival has over the years expanded to cover many different areas in the harbour. With an aim of spotlighting Copenhagen as a cultural port city, the festival will gradually include the entire Copenhagen harbour!

 

THE POSTER MUST CONTAIN:

The name of the festival (in Danish): KULTURHAVN
Dateand year: 7-9 August 2015 (in Danish: 7.-9. August 2015)
Space for sponsorlogos at the bottom of the poster
 

An important consideration is that the poster must make an impact and that the poster will be used as a recurrent design on all marketing material, which places special demands on the flexibility of the design.

 

The poster design will be used on:

Poster columns – located on the city’s busiest streets
Banners – on pedestrianised high streets in the city centre in the week leading up to the festival
Program – distributed to cafés, restaurants, the tourist information centre, hotels, etc.
Poster – featured at all city schools, cultural centres, libraries and sports facilities
 

The winner of the competition is subsequently required to scale the poster to wide format – before 15 April 2015. The winning entry will be offered supervision by the jury chairman. THE COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL (KULTURHAVN) reserves the right to adjust the format of the poster to the extent necessary.

The jury will review all received proposals and will in its citation motivate the choice of the winning poster.

 

COMPETITION CRITERIA:

In the selection process special emphasis will be given to the ability of the proposed poster to:

Fulfil the competition criteria
Stand outin the cityscape
Adapt tomanydifferent formats
 

SUBMISSION:

Poster proposals must be submitted by email to plakat@kulturhavn.dk no later than 18 March 2015 at 12:00 noon. Only one proposal may be submitted per participant.

 

The following must be submitted:

Poster proposals that do not meet the competition criteria for content and delivery will not be considered.

 

PARTICIPATION

Anyone can participate in the poster competition. Excluded are persons associated with the festival Secretariat, those who have been involved in setting out the terms for the competition, the jury and persons with family or business relationships with said persons.

 

PRIZE

The selected design will be rewarded with DKK 15,000. The winner will be notified by 1 April 2015.

 

On 1 June 2015, a press release will be issued with the announcement of this year’s poster, this year’s program and the winner of the poster competition.

 

All submissions will be exhibited electronically at Kulturhuset Islands Brygge (culture centre) between 7 and 9 August 2015 and on the kulturhavn.dk festival website after the winner has been announced.

 

COPYRIGHT

THE COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL (KULTURHAVN) requires that persons taking part in the competition have full copyright to the submitted proposals. The festival reserves the right to use the submitted proposals in other contexts. Any dispute over copyright issues regarding the prizewinner shall remain between the copyright holder and the infringed party and shall not implicate the COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL (KULTURHAVN). The prizewinner shall when the winning entry is announced transfer the full right to use the submitted proposal to THE COPENHAGEN HARBOUR FESTIVAL (KULTURHAVN).
